Annual Charity Walk 2008
Photographs of the Kinneff Reelers & Friends Annual Charity Walk ’08; various circuits starting from Linn of Dee and either going the full circuit of Linn Of Dee – The White Bridge – Corruour Bothy – Derry Lodge back to Linn of Dee, or a combination to suit.
Arthur, after deciding our 2007 walk would be the last one he would organise, was ‘persuaded’ to come out of early retirement and organise our 11th annual walk – thank you John Forbes (The Persuader!)
This year Arthur has decided the Funds raised are to be donated between two charities:
Inspire - a local charity established in 1988. It aims to offer opportunities for an excellent quality of life to people with learning disabilities in North East Scotland. Inspire supports more than 600 men, women and children and the help the charity gives includes the provision of residential services, day services, support to people in their own homes and respite care. Inspire has several residential houses in the North East, including three in Stonehaven and others in Cults, Banchory and Aboyne as well as throughout Aberdeenshire and Moray. and
Marie Curie Cancer Care - one of the UK’s largest charities. It was established in 1948 – the same year as the NHS – and this year marks its 60th anniversary. Employing more than 2700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, the charity provides care for around 27,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in 10 hospices each year. The services of Marie Curie are always free of charge to patients and their families which means that in the current year the charity will need to raise more than £115 million. Marie Curie is currently working on a major palliative care service improvement plan to provide greater choice for patients in end of life care. This program has five projects underway across the UK – one of them in Tayside where a range of services have been implemented to improve the support and services available to patients, their families and carers. The total amount raised was £3,001 (this will increase to over £3,800 when Gift Aid is taken into account).
The donations have been divided as follows:
Inspire - £1,728
Marie Curie Cancer Care – 1,273
Kinneff Reelers would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who generously donated.
